New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle (Extended Dance Mix)

One of my fav' from the Manchester boys, even if it failed to make the top 40 in either the UK or the US charts during its original release. Remixed by Shep Pettibone, New Order's thirteenth single on Factory was released in November 1986 and is taken from the album 'Brotherhood'.

Empathy Test - Here Is The Place (Thomas Datt Remix Edit 2022)

Here's my own edit of this track originally released in 2015 for the UK Electronic Pop duo Empathy Test. No big changes compared to Thomas Datt's version, I've only re-arranged some parts and added a few more vocals. Let me you know what you think :)

Matia Bazar - I Feel You (Ti Sento) (Long Version)

A mega hit in Benelux (the single reached N°1 in Belgian music charts and N°2 in the Dutch charts in 1986) for Matia Bazar, an Italian pop band formed in Genoa in 1975. Antonella Ruggiero and Carlo Marrale, the two principal vocalists in the band, left respectively in 1989 and 1994 to pursue solo careers.

Lavantgarde - Take Me S.I.M.

The only single for this German synthpop duo, released on 27 September 2004. A really great track...too bad the band went M.I.A. shortly after this release :(

Howard Jones - Hide And Seek (Extended Version)

Time to relax a bit with this wonderful dark ambiant/synthpop ballad by Howard Jones, released in February 1984. Hide And Seek was the 3rd single taken from the UK Number 1 album 'Human's Lib' and reached the Top 5 in many countries.

De/Vision - Brothers In Arms (Extended Version)

 

 

Released as a Limited Edition Promo CDM in March 2014 (only 500 copies), Brothers In Arms is one of my fav' tracks from this German synthpop band formed in 1988. The video features footage from De/Vision's live tour in Leipzig in October 2013.

Limahl - The NeverEnding Story (12" Dance Mix)

 

Another classic synthpop masterpiece with the theme song from 'The NeverEnding Story' soundtrack, an underrated movie by Wolfgang Petersen released in 1984. With the great music composed by Giorgio Moroder, this was a huge hit for Limahl's brief solo career after being fired from Kajagoogoo.

!Distain - December (Silica Gel Extended Remix)

A great remix by the Spanish synthpop act Silica Gel for this title released in October 2015 by !Distain, the German synthpop band from Augsburg. And yes, I know we're in January, not December, but my blog wasn't live yet then :)

Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance (Club Mix)

A Worldwide hit for this Canadian new wave/synthpop group formed in Montréal, Québec. Initially a punk rock band, Ivan Doroschuk (vocals) restarted Men Without Hats in 1980 as a new synthesizer-based group. After a hiatus for most of the 1990s and 2000s, the band was reformed in 2010 and has released a new EP - Again [Part 1] - in September 2021.

Syntec Feat. Blind Passenger - Catch My Fall

No, this isn't Dave Gahan's brother but he sure looks like him :) Taken from the album 'The Passenger' released in 2016, 'Catch My Fall' is a nice synthpop track by Syntec, a German band formed by Tobias Hartwig and Uwe Kallenbach.

Trans-X - Living On Video (Long Version)

 

 

Another classic track by Canadian synthpop band Trans-X (aka Pascal Languirand) written and published in 1982, but only released in May 1983. The track has been re-recorded and remixed several times, but the original long version still sounds great :) 

 

Yazoo - Nobody's Diary (Extended Version)

 

A classic masterpiece from the English synthpop duo Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America). Great melody from the 'Synth God' Vince Clarke combined with Alison Moyet's blues- and soul-influenced voice, but despite their success, the duo split acrimoniously a few months after this release (in May 1983).

Solitary Experiments - I Am

 

Taken from the album 'Futur Tense' released in 2018, 'I Am' is exactly the kind of track you need if you're feeling down or had a bad day (at least it works for me lol). Play it loud and enjoy this great track from this German synthpop/EBM band.

Visage - The Damned Don't Cry (Extended Version)

 

 

A classic synthpop track from Visage, the pioneers of the New Romantic movement, The original version appeared on their sophomore album, 1982's "The Anvil." This extended version is taken from the album 'The Wild Life (The Best Of Extended Versions And Remixes - 1978 To 2015)'.

Sjöblom - Not A Man For You (Shameless3030 Remix)

Here's a very cool synthpop remix by Shameless3030 for this Swedish indie project, formed in 2016 in Stockholm by Johan Sjöblom. Released in July 2020, this is the second single from the "A Victory Of Love EP". Please note that this is a fan-made video as there's no official video for this track.

Rename - Play In The Rain

Taken from the album 'Evolution' released in 2011, 'Play In The Rain' is a nice synthpop ballad by Rename (aka Marcus Fellechner). The German artist changed his artist name to Mindmodvl (pronounced as Mind Module) in 2019.

Wolfsheim - The Sparrows And The Nightingales (Long Version)

 

 

Another great track from a German synthpop/darkwave duo (Markus Reinhardt & Peter Heppner). Formed in 1987 in Hamburg, the band split up in January 2009 due to personal differences caused by the solo activities of Heppner. Both fought in court without success to get the right to continue the project Wolfsheim. The Sparrows And The Nightingales is their first single, released 15th July 1991.

 Front 242 - Headhunter

When you're from Belgium and love electronic music like me, there's a band you can't miss and that's of course Front 242. Formed in Aarschot in 1981 by Daniel Bressanutti and Dirk Bergen (who left the group later to become their manager), Front 242 released many albums of EBM (=Electronic Body Music), gaining more popularity with every release. Released in 1988, Headhunter is taken from the album 'Front By Front'.

 Minerve - Don't Ask Me Why (Midnight Resistance Remix)

Taken from the album 'Repleased' released in 2011, here's a cool remix by Midnight Resistance, aka Nicolay Frank. Founded in 2002 by Daniel Wollatz & Mathias Thürk, this German synthpop band will become a trio in 2006 with the arrival of Andreas Wollatz. As far as I know, Repleased is their last album and they haven't released anything after that.

 N-Frequency - What I Say

Released as single only a few weeks ago (October 2021), 'What I Say' is taken from the album 'Signs Of Evolution'. This is the 2nd album from this German synthpop duo formed by Rocco & Nicky Schulschenk. Produced and mixed by Rob Dust.

 Angelzoom - Everyone Cares

Taken from the album 'Nothing Is Infinite', this was the 2nd track released as single in 2011 (the first one being 'The Things You Said', a great Depeche Mode cover), showcasing Claudia Uhle's beautiful voice. After 2 solo albums, the german singer came back to X-Perience (a German synthpop/eurodance group founded in 1994 in Berlin with Alexander Kaiser and her brother Matthias Uhle).

 Covenant - Bullet (Club Version)

Taken from their 5th album 'Northern Light' released in September 2002, Bullet is still one of my favourite track from this electronic band formed in 1988 in Helsingborg, Sweden. Great track, great voice, great video (HQ version)...enjoy :)

 VNV Nation - Nova (Shine A Light On Me)

Taken from the 'Automatic' album released in 2011, Nova is a great synth track by VNV Nation. VNV Nation ("Victory Not Vengeance") is a European based alternative electronic project led by Ronan Harris in the roles of singer, songwriter and producer. Over the course of the project’s career, VNV Nation has continued to reach new heights, with its last 3 albums charting top 10 in Germany, as well as the most recent album ("Noire", released in 2018) reaching top 5 Billboard Chart positions in the US.
