Louise Tucker - Only For You (Long Version)

Based on the Elizabethan Serenade created by Ronald Binge, Only For You combines Louise Tucker's classically-trained operatic voice with synthpop music. Taken from the album 'Midnight Blue' (1982), the song was released as a single in some countries but failed to chart. The version here is my own extended edit, enjoy :)

Vangelis - Conquest Of Paradise

Having had a career in music spanning over 50 years and having composed and performed more than 50 albums, the Greek musician and composer Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou, aka Vangelis, is by far one of the most important figures in the history of electronic music. He composed so many great scores (Chariots of Fire, Blade Runner, Missing,...) that it's hard to select one, but 1492: Conquest of Paradise (released in 1992) has always been one of my fav' and it's also a great opportunity to watch this amazing video created by the Blender Animation Studio. Enjoy :)

Daft Punk - Da Funk (12")

Initially released as a 12-inch single in 1995 with a pressing limited to 2,000 copies, Da Funk was "virtually ignored". The instrumental track by the French electronic duo Daft Punk received a boost in popularity when the Chemical Brothers incorporated it into their live shows. It was re-released in 1996 on their debut album Homework and went on to sell 30,000 copies in 1997. The track is now considered as a classic of 1990s house music.

Eurythmics - Here Comes The Rain Again (Extended Version)

Taken from Eurythmics' 3rd studio album Touch, Here Comes The Rain Again was released on 12 January 1984 as the album's third single in the UK and in the United States as the first single. The British duo wrote the song while staying at the Mayflower Hotel in New York City. It was an overcast day, and David Stewart was playing a melancholic chord on his Casio keyboard. Annie Lennox came over, looked out the window at the gray skies, and spontaneously sang, "Here comes the rain again". The duo worked out the rest of the song based on that mood.

The Script Feat. Will.I.Am - Hall of Fame (Extended Version)

Taken from The Script's third studio album '#3', Hall of Fame is a fantastic track from the Irish pop rock band featuring Will.I.Am of The Black Eyed Peas. OMD - Enola Gay (Extended Mix)

One of the best songs of its era (the 80's) and genre (synthpop), Enola Gay is an anti-war song by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) and also the only single taken from their 1980 album Organisation. The song is named after the Enola Gay, the USAAF B-29 Superfortress bomber that carried Little Boy, the first atomic bomb to be used in an act of war, dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, killing more than 100,000 of its citizens. The version here is taken from the Limited 12", released 27 November 2020 for the 40th Anniversary Edition.

Erasure - Always (Extended Version)

When you're talking about synthpop, one of the first name that probably comes to mind after Depeche Mode is Erasure. With 24 consecutive top 40 entries in the UK from 1986 to 2007, there are a lot of singles to choose from but Always, released in April 1994, has always been one of my fav'. A wonderful ballad with strong verses both musically and lyrically and a great chorus...a nicely understated piece enlivened by Vince Clarke's tickering synths and Andy Bell's warm contralto.
