Taken from his brand new album 'Fragments Of Longing', released 28 October 2022, 'With The Last Strength' is a haunting instrumental piece by Peter Elm, the Swedish artist relocated in Brussels. A perfect track for Halloween - it reminds me of 'Christmas Island' by Depeche Mode - and I hope you'll enjoy the spooky video too :)

Lights Of Euphoria - True Life

 

Taken from the album 'Krieg Gegen Die Maschinen' (='War Against The Machines'), released 23 May 2003, 'True Life' is a great track by Lights Of Euphoria, the Danish/German electronic project formed by Torben Schimdt & Jimmy Machon. The version here is the single version, featuring Rouven Walterowicz (Endanger) on vocals, released shortly before the album (4 April 2003).

Pride And Fall - Start Of A New Day

 

Taken from their fifth studio album 'Red For The Dead - Black For The Mourning', released 26 August 2016, 'Start Of A New Day' is a great track by Pride And Fall, the Norwegian electronic trio formed by Sigve Monsen (vocals), Per Waagen (keyboards, programming) and Svein-Joar Johnsen (guitar). A dark and heavy tune taken from a brilliant album co-produced by Krischan Wesenberg (Rotersand) and Christer André Cederberg (Tristania, Anathema)

Angels & Agony - One

 

Taken from their first album 'Eternity', released 24 September 2001, 'One' is a haunting track by Angels & Agony, the Dutch electropop/futurepop band formed in 1995. Produced by Ronan Harris (VNV Nation) & Axel Ernes (The Cassandra Complex, Trauma and many other bands), this is a great song taken from an excellent debut release.

Norderney - Fulfilled

 

Taken from their fourth album 'Without The Limelight' released 30 April 2021, 'Fulfilled' is a great melancholic track from Norderney, the German synthpop duo from Rostock, Germany. A song about getting old and the importance of living your life to the fullest because "it's better to die with memories than with the most beautiful dreams."

Zynic - Mourning Light

 

Taken from his first album 'Fire Walk With Me', released 29 April 2011, 'Mourning Light' is a great track by Peter Siemandel, aka Zynic. Another fantastic synthpop tune, starting quietly and slowly building up with some really cool synth effects and a catchy chorus.

Aesthetic Perfection - Forever

 

Taken from the album 'Blood Spills Not Far From The Wound', released 16 October 2015, 'Forever' is a great track by Aesthetic Perfection, the electronic musical project created by Daniel Graves in 2000. Initally released in 2007 under the moniker “Necessary Response”, it was a collection of songs originally intended for release on 'Close to Human', the debut Aesthetic Perfection album, but their less aggressive nature lead to their removal by his label. Almost a decade after that, the album finally came out, remixed, re-mastered & revived with newly recorded vocals and new artwork.

Helalyn Flowers - Halos (People Theatre's Fireball Mix)

 

Taken from their sixth studio album 'Àiresis', released 19 February 2021, 'Halos' is a nice poppy song by Helalyn Flowers, the Italian electro/darkwave duo formed by Maxx Maryan & Noemi Aurora. The version here is the brilliant remix by People Theatre, taken from the recent Halos Remix Contest EP released 7 October 2022.

Mental Discipline - Out In The Rain

 

Taken from his third and brand new album 'Nothing To Die For', released 21 October 2022, 'Out In The Rain' is a great track by Mental Discipline, the one-man project formed by Alexandr Krivoruko (aka Alex Mental) in 2008. A catchy track taken from a fabulous album - there isn't any weak track, they're all good - highly recommended if you haven't heard it yet :)

Assemblage 23 - Drive

 

Taken from the third studio album 'Defiance', released 22 October 2002, 'Drive' is a catchy track by Tom Shear's Assemblage 23 project. A masterfully constructed dancefloor track that sports some of Shear's best sequencing work, and the lyrics accurately portray not only anguish and confusion, but how they can be dealt with in a positive manner

Beborn Beton - Lost Little Robot

 

Taken from their second album 'Concrete Ground', released 25 April 1994, 'Lost Little Robot' is a brilliant track by Beborn Beton, the German synthpop group founded in 1989 in Essen by Michael B. Wagner, Stefan Netschio & Stefan Tillmann. Great synths combined with a catchy melody, one of my all time fav' from the band (and I still can't believe that this one has been released 28 years ago).

Solitary Experiments - Counterpart

 

Taken from the album 'Mind Over Matter', released 12 September 2005, 'Counterpart' is a great track by Solitary Experiments, the Berlin Futurepop pioneers band formed in 1994 by Dennis Schober and Michael Thielemann.A haunting instrumental song taken from a great album...while we're waiting for the next one, 'Transcendent', to be released next week (28 October).

Piston Damp - Runaway (Mesh Remix)

 

Taken from their first album "Making The World Great Again", released 10 June 2021, 'Runaway' is a great track by Piston Damp, the Danish/Norwegian synthpop duo formed by Jonas Groth (Apoptygma Berzerk) and Truls Sønsterud. The version here is the excellent remix by Richard Silverthorn (Mesh), taken from the 'Runaway EP', released 2 April 2021.

Machinista - We Are Rockets

 

Taken from their second studio album 'Garmonbozia', released 15 June 2015, 'We Are Rockets' is a catchy track by Machinista, the Swedish electronic duo formed in December 2012 by John Lindqwister and Richard Flow. A great song with a 80's touch, combining melancholy and danceability, just like all the other tracks from this fantastic album that's worth any synthpop fan's time and attention.

 

Blackbook - I Dance Alone

 

Taken from their first and brand new album 'Confessions Of The Innocent', released 14 October 2022, 'I Dance Alone' is a great track by Blackbook, the synthpop duo formed by Dutch singer Albert Den Dekker and Swiss producer Matthias Kräutli (both are members of the Swiss indie pop band My Name Is George). A fantastic album, even if almost all titles have been released as singles before, but still a strong collection of songs for any synthpop fan :)

Seabound - Watching Over You (Haujobb Remix)

 

Taken from the 'Poisonous Friend (CDM)', released 26 April 2004, 'Watching Over You' is a haunting track by Seabound, the synthpop/futurepop duo from Germany, formed in 1995 by Frank M. Spinath & Martin Vorbrodt. The version here is the excellent remix by Haujobb (aka Daniel Myer & Dejan Samardzic).

 

Colony 5 - It Was Only A Dream

 

Taken from their second album 'Structures', released 19 May 2003, 'It Was Only A Dream' is a catchy track by Colony 5, the Swedish Futurepop/Synthpop band founded in March 1999 by Per-Ola Svensson and Magnus Löfdahl. A great track taken from a great album - all 12 tracks are really good - highly recommended if you haven't heard it yet :)

New Order - Your Silent Face

 

Taken from their second album 'Power, Corruption & Lies', released 2 May 1983, 'Your Silent Face' is a great electronic-based track by the Manchester band, marking the definitive turning away from the rather gloomy predecessor and the Joy Division legacy. Not really a happy song (the lyrics are about death & suicide), but a great song nevertheless with typical New Order black humor.

 

XP8 - The Art Of Revenge

 

Taken from the eponym album, released 18 January 2008, 'The Art Of Revenge' is a catchy track by XP8, the Anglo-Italian EBM band founded in 2001 by Marco Visconti, Paul Toohill and Marko Resurreccion, and disbanded in 2014. The track features several samples taken from the movie "V for Vendetta", the 2005 dystopian political action film directed by James McTeigue and starring Natalie Portman, Stephen Rea, John Hurt and Stephen Fry.

Beyond Obsession - On My Way (CHROM Remix)

 

Taken from their album 'Listen - The Remixes', released 17 December 2014, 'On My Way' is a great track by Beyond Obsession, the German synthpop band formed by Nils Upahl, Andrè Wylar & Sören Köstel in June 2012 (Sören left the band in 2015). The version here is the excellent remix by CHROM.

Angels & Agony - Inner Light

 

 

Taken from their album 'Unison', released 26 January 2007, 'Inner Light' is a great track by Angels & Agony, the Dutch electropop/futurepop band formed in 1995 by Reinier Kahle (vocals), Erik Wierenga (guitar), Marco van Belle (synthesizer & backing vocals) and Fried Bruggink (sound engineer & drums). A catchy synth melody combined with deep lyrics and some groovy dance elements.

Mesh - Can You Mend Hearts? (Classic Studio)

 

Taken from the album 'Live At Neues Gewandhaus Leipzig', released 24 November 2017, 'Can You Mend Hearts?' is another beautiful track by Mesh, the British electronic alternative band formed in 1991 by Mark Hockings and Richard Silverthorn. Unlike the first 5 songs of the album, who were recorded live with a 65 musicians classical orchestra, this very catchy song was recorded with a smaller ensemble and turned into a magical classical version with the recognisable refrain.

Neuroticfish - Silence (Simon Fawlter Remix)

 

Taken from the album 'A Sign Of Life', released 27 March 2015, 'Silence' is a catchy dance track by Neuroticfish, the German futurepop/synthpop project from Sascha Mario Klein and Henning Verlage. The version here is the Simon Fawlter remix (Simon Fawlter being the pseudonym used by Sascha Mario Klein as a producer and remixer), taken from the 'Silence EP', released 12 December 2014.

Taken from their third album 'Insight Comes At The End', released 3 August 2020, 'Human' is another great track by Norderney, the German synthpop duo from Rostock, Germany. A song about ordinary people, making mistakes and learning how to live with them.

Radiorama - Aliens (Vocal Version)

 

Taken from their second album called... "The 2nd Album" or "The Second Album" depending on the country and released in May 1987, 'Aliens' is a great dance track by Radiorama, the Italo Disco band formed in 1984 by Mauro Farina & Aldo Martinelli, with Clara Moroni (female voice of the group). Another candidate for the best lyrics oscar ("Inside our house is a know that we are in danger" being my fav' sentence from the song).

 

Beborn Beton - Peach 2002

 

Taken from the compilation 'Tales From Another World', released 6 May 2002, 'Peach' is a great track by Beborn Beton, the German synthpop group founded in 1989 in Essen by Michael B. Wagner, Stefan Netschio & Stefan Tillmann. This is the re-recorded version from 2002 - the original version of the song is available on their album 'Fake', released 18 October 1999.

Howard Jones - My One True Love

 

Taken from his fourteenth studio album 'Dialogue', released 9 September 2022, 'My One True Love' is a great track by Howard Jones, the British classically-trained pianist who turned synthpop star and had 10 Top 40 hit singles in the UK between 1983 and 1986, including six which reached the top ten.

 

Blaqk Audio - Stormbringer

 

Taken from their brand new sixth studio album "Trop d'amour" (= "Too Much Love" in french), released 16 September 2022, 'Stormbringer' is a great track by Blaqk Audio, the American electronic duo formed by Davey Havok and Jade Puget (A Fire Inside). A great track from a great album, highly recommended if you haven't heard it yet :)

[:SITD:] - Richtfest (Extended Version)

 

Taken from the album 'Coded Message: 12', released 29 March 2005, 'Richtfest' is a great dance track by [:SITD:] (=Shadows In The Dark), the Electro-Industrial band from Germany's Ruhr area, formed in 1996. This is the Extended Version, taken from the 'Richtfest (CDM)', released 21 February 2005.

Alphaville - Lassie Come Home (Symphonic Version)

 

Taken from their brand new album 'Eternally Yours', released 23 September 2022, 'Lassie Come Home' is a fantastic track by Alphaville, the German synthpop band centered around vocalist Marian Gold (Hartwig Schierbaum), formed in 1982 in Münster. Just like all the tracks from this album, this is a Symphonic Version recorded with the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg.

Minerve - Deep Inside

 

Taken from their second album 'Sensefiction', released 28 April 2006, 'Deep Inside' is a great track by Minerve, the German synthpop/electropop band founded in 2002 by Daniel Wollatz & Mathias Thürk. A perfect mixture of aggressive synth lines and melodic vocals, just like all the other tracks from this great album.
